John Richard McCollum, age 90, of Sheffield died Wednesday, January 20, 2016. His family will receive friends Saturday 12-1:30 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia with Barrett Long officiating.
Mr. McCollum was a native of Chattanooga but lived most of his life in Sheffield. He was retired from Reynolds Metal after thirty-two years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church, Tuscumbia. He was a life-time member of Mechanic’s Local #1189 and Masonic Lodge AMFM 503. He was preceded in death by his parents, JR and Lois McCollum.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years; Jane Weatherly McCollum, sons; Richard McCollum and wife Debbie, David McCollum, grandson; Michael McCollum, granddaughters; Mary Hollis Hilton, Emily Larimore and husband, Simon, Kathryn McCollum and their mother, Tina McCollum, sister-in-law; Gail Steakley, great-granddaughter; Hailey Hilton and two nieces.
Pallbearers are Lance Young, Michael McCollum, David Branscome, Brian Young, Tommy Beck, Brian Beck, and John Ellett.
Honorary Pallbearers are William Earl Roper, Lee Young, Don Painter and Johnny Dill and Leon Allsbrooks.
