Mildred Hand Jacobs, age 90, passed peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope. She was born and raised in Birmingham to Lois and Dr. Thomas Hand. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama. She was married to Dr. Moody Jacobs for 54 years before his passing in 2001.
She is survived by her three children, Leigh (Monty) Perry, Glen (Sandy) Jacobs, Laura (Bill) Brown; five grandchildren, Andrew and Alan Perry, Brian and Benjamin Jacobs, Seth Brown; and one great grandchild, Kyleigh Jacobs; one sister, Ruth Gibbs and many nieces and nephews.
She raised her family in Decatur for 45 years. She was a member of the Medical Auxiliary in Decatur, Central Baptist Church and later Oak Park Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She lived at Westminster Retirement Village in Spanish Fort for the last ten years where she made many friends who were so dear to her. She was a gift from God to all who knew her and we will sorely miss her.
