Rachel Miller Groce, age 89, died Monday at her residence. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Henry Bass and Penn “Pete” Mullowney officiating. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Groce was born Jan. 27, 1926, in Limestone County. She was a member of Tanner United Methodist Church and was former owner of Rachel’s Beauty Shop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Allen Groce; six brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Groce (Sue)of Montgomery and Tommy Groce of Columbus, Georgia; daughter, Sandra LeCroix (Johnny) of Decatur; grandchildren, Jessica LeCroix, Sarah LeCroix, Taylor Groce, Hunter Groce and Garrett Groce; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Lewis Miller (Ann) of Tanner; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the caregivers, Heather Atkins, Joyce Clinard, Jennifer Taylor, Julie Moore and Kelley McNutt.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Groce, Taylor Groce, Garrett Groce, Tim Miller, Bill Burchfield and Jerry Groce.
