MCFARLAND PARK – CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate). all year long serves our community by diligently working to protect at-risk children. It is a serious business.

But around Christmastime each year on a Saturday morning, the volunteers kick back a bit from their hard work and go jump in the river. Larry Bowser fo the Marriott-Shoals and Sandy Noland of KISS FM 102.7 even joined in with the CASA team for the plunge. Lots of money was raised for the kids, and fortunately the weather was really nice for the participants.

Just prior to the plunge, CASA conducted its annual Candy Cane Run, a 5k race through the park.

The Quad-Cities Daily was on hand to take some EVENT PHOTOS and we present them here. Gallery Number One is the Plunge, and Gallery Two is the run. If you see a photo you like, make yourself a print, or download it and put it on your smartphone. They’re free!

Two galleries….check the second gallery containing the Candy Cane Run!
