Mildred Ellett Mance, 88, of Big Cove, passed away at her home on Friday, December 11, 2015. Mrs. Mance was born in Winchester, Tennessee on February 8, 1927 to Edward and Vina Wright Ellett and spent her early childhood years in Crabtree’s Cove, Tennessee. She married Fred Mance, Jr. in July of 1949 and moved to Detroit, Michigan for a short time before returning to live in Big Cove where she resided until her death. She was a long time member of Big Cove Holiness Church.
Mrs. Mance is survived by her daughter, Pamela Mance Thorson and grandsons, Stewart Thorson (Stephanie) and Blake Thorson, all of Big Cove. She loved spending her time with her two great-grandchildren, Abigail Marie and Ellett Katherine Thorson. She is also survived by one sister, Nelda Willene Ellett.
Mrs. Mance was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Mance, Jr..; her parents, Edward and Vina Ellett; her brother, Nolan “Doc” Ellett; son-in-law, Roy Thorson; and her great-granddaughter, Olivia Garner Thorson.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Warren and the Rev. Ollie Taylor officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
