Bessie Leo Vickery Weeks was born Oct. 25, 1919, in Florence, Alabama the daughter of John Wesley Monroe and Callie Holt Vickery. She was united in marriage to Ellis Weeks on Jan. 28, 1944, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1993. Mrs. Weeks was a homemaker and departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, in Florence, Alabama at the age of 96 years, one month, and ten days.
Survivors are Carolyn McGee (Dewey), Florence, Alabama, Frances McGee (Glenn), Okolona, Mississippi, and Deborah Lofton, Georgia; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great- great-Grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Weeks was preceded in death by brothers, Hubert Vickery (Lorene), Clifford Vickery (Dot), and Wayford Vickery; sisters, Beulah Roberson (Frank) and Inez Morgan (husband, Arnold) and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Cloverdale Baptist Church, Florence, Alabama, with William Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Lindsey’s Chapel Cemetery, Florence, Alabama, with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Ronald Liles, Brett Blevins, Nathan Faulkner, Luke Patterson, TJ Johns, and Darrin Bogus, with Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Department personnel as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Collinwood, Tennessee, and Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, from 10 a.m. until service time at Cloverdale Baptist Church.
