ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued this statement regarding the theft of a vehicle on Monday, December 7:
“This morning shortly before 7:00 the police department received a call of a stolen vehicle. The victim told officers she parked her vehicle at First Baptist Day Care and took her child inside. The vehicle was left running while the owner was away. When the victim returned the vehicle was gone. The vehicle is a tan 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe; it had Alabama tag 44CK513 when it was stolen. Inside the vehicle was a Kel-Tec 380 caliber pistol, a Mac Book air, a wallet containing several credit cards and a debit card. The vehicle was last seen going east on Hobbs Street in Athens.
The person that took the vehicle is described as being a white male, wearing a red hoodie, plaid coat, camo paints and brown boots. I have attached a photograph of the suspect from a surveillance system. If anyone sees or has additional information about the vehicle or the suspect we ask them to call the Athens Police Department at 256-233-8700.”
