Mae Sims Ennis, 95, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015 at Limestone Health Facility. A Celebration of Life service will be today, Dec. 4, 2015 at 2 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Athens with Ricky Lowery officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Madison Cemetery.
Mrs. Ennis was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Athens for 50-plus years and also lived in Wyndotte, Michigan. She was a graduate of Decatur High School and was known for her gentle, sweet spirit.
Mrs. Ennis was born in Decatur on April 29, 1920 to R.C. and Nora Sims.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald “Dick” Ennis; brothers, Mac, Bill, Lou and Tom Sims; and by her sister, Suzie.
She is survived by her children, Don (Venus) Ennis, Lynn (Sherry) Ennis, Kevin (Kimberly) Ennis and Sandra (John) Ennis Covi; grandchildren, Londa Bottoms, Donnie, Heath, Cam and Turner Ennis; several great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
