Jane Spears, age 86, passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2015.
The visitation was held Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, from 5-8 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She will lie-in-state from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, with Brother John Humpres officiating. Interment will be at the adjoining cemetery.
She was preceded in death by husband, T.O. Spears; parents, Walter and Jeanie Perry; three brothers, Freemon Perry, Jack Perry and Melvin Garrison; and three sisters, Bertie Jenkins, Bertha Perry and Letha Garrison.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Spears, Kathryn Phifer and Rickey, and Carol Smith and Buddy; granddaughters, Tracey Potter and Derell, Amanda Sealey and Clarence, and Whitney Carter and Todd; three great-grandsons, Bentlee Sealey, Jacob Potter and Kyson Carter; sisters, Jean Frost and Dessie Vandiver; and her friend and caregiver, Orvie James, who helped care for our mother with love and kindness.
