Marilyn R. Thompson age 69 of Athens, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at her residence. Mrs. Thompson was born January 13, 1946 in Akron, OH to Roy Rutherford and Laura Burrough Rutherford.
Services will be Thursday, December 3, 2015 11:00 a.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Ray Stonecipher and Bro. Lynn Marshall officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of Piney Chapel Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by her husband, John Thompson; niece, Barbara Thompson.
Survived by six sons, Mark Rutherford (Joan Pack), Dewayne Thompson and wife, Charlotte, Donald Rutherford, Randy Thompson, Brandon Patterson and Clint David Taylor; three daughters, Connie sanders and husband Robert, Kathy Hughes and Darlene Thompson; four step-sons, Joey Thompson, Steve Thompson, Stanley Thompson and Travis Thompson; 29 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
