James M Bloodworth, 92, died peacefully at his home in Trussville on Nov. 22, 2015. He was born in Decatur on Nov. 22, 1922. He served in World War II as a 2nd class radio operator on several different Liberty ships from 1943- 1945. He was employed by AT&T for 37 years, retiring in 1983. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Perry Bloodworth; four children, Beth Potts (David), of Marion, Jim Bloodworth (Lucy), Vicki Chiarella (Jerry) and Beverly Hudgens (Ron); and one sister, Margaret Puckett of Decatur.
He was “Papa” to nine grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren and will be missed by all of them. The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers for the special attention they provided during the past year, and family and friends for the support and prayers during this difficult time.
Visitation will be today, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m., with the service at 11 a.m. at McElwain Baptist Church. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Montevallo.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Judson College, 302 Bibb Street, Marion, AL 36756, McElwain Baptist Church or McElwain Christian Academy.
