Mrs. Dorotha “Dot” McGuire Cox of Rogersville died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at 5:20 p.m. after an extended illness with kidney dialysis for over 10 years and other illnesses.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 15th, 2015 from noon to 2 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow immediately in the chapel with burial in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Jason Vinson will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Cox, Danny Cox, Harold Cox, Dewayne Grossheim, Donnie Grossheim and James Austin.
Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Wayne Cox.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Glen Cox; grandsons, Anthony (Nikki) Cox and Curtis (Shanon) Cox; great-grandchildren, Phillip, Lenzy, Trevor and Taylor; sister, Rose (Jack) Cole; sisters-in-law, Frances (Martin) Cox and Flora Cox; numerous nieces and nephews.
Dot was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend.
After her marriage on Dec. 21, 1950, she began her travels, honeymoon to the beautiful Niagara Falls, New York/Canada which was a beautiful place.
Later becoming a military wife and a mother to a son, Phillip Wayne, who was born on his father’s birthday, Dec. 12, 1955, their family began their 22 years in the military, traveling to places such as Okinawa, Japan which was very interesting and beautiful. Returning to the United States then off to Germany, then was able to travel much of Europe including Italy, Rome then the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Paris, the Eiffel Tower, Holland, the land of acres and acres of tulips. Traveling to approximately 12 countries.
Finally returning to Rogersville (Elgin) where she lived the rest of her life.
