Doris “Mama Doris” McGuire Butler – Obituary

Doris “Mama Doris” McGuire Butler, 72, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at her residence. She was a member New Georgia Church of Christ for over 40 years. She was affectionately known to all children she babysat as “Mama Doris.” Her selfless nature was evident in all the food, cards and visits to those in need.
Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel, with Jerry Curry and Steve Klein officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cemetery.
Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her previous husband, David Howard McGurie; sister, Frances Wilbanks; brother, Charles Romine; and grandchild, Amy; and son-in-law, Dale Haraway. She is survived by husband, Charles Butler; children, Ann (Don) Barringer, Chris Fitzpatrick and Sheila McGuire Haraway; grandchildren, Trey, Sarah, Abby and Karlie; brothers, Bryce Romine and Johnny Romine; sisters-in-law, Evon Cannon, Catherine (Stanley) Birdwell and Ruth (Jerry) Mitchell, Mildred Lambert and Wynell Romine; brothers-in-law, Warren (Doris) Butler, Lonnie (Ruth) Butler, Johnny Butler, Tommy (Enid) Butler and Bobby McGuire; special niece, Amanda Steelman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
