DECATUR- Decatur Police Officer Josh Driggers has been diagnosed with a tumor on his brain.  Here is a statement issued by the Decatur Police Department regarding fundraising efforts for the help of Officer Driggers medical bills:

“On February 4, 2015, Decatur Police Officer Josh Driggers went to his doctor after experiencing persistent headaches, nausea, and vomiting.
Tests were conducted and it was revealed that Josh had a tumor on his brain.
Josh is 31 years old and married with a young daughter (11) and son (4). In the time since his diagnosis, he has received treatments at UAB Medical Center and Duke University Medical Center and continues his struggle toward recovery.
In addition to facing his own uncertain future, Josh is dealing with the financial impact his cog on his family. The Driggers family and the men and women of the Decatur Police Department are extremely grateful to the public for the support they have shown for Josh and his family. Just yesterday, an anonymous couple left 12 $100.00 prepaid Visa debit cards for the Driggers at the front desk of the police department.
As an additional means of assisting the Driggers family, Chief Ed Taylor has authorized members of the department to participate in “No Shave November” which will last from November 7 to December 7.
During this time, the departments policy on facial hair will be suspended for officers donating to the fund-raising effort. Officers may make the donation themselves or accept donations on their behalf from others. The officer with the best beard will be recognized at the end of the period.
Several members have chosen not to grow a beard but are making donations.
As always, please join us as we keep Josh and his family in our prayers.”
