tonyAnthony “Tony” Wayne Clanton, 48, went to be with his Lord on Nov. 3, 2015.
Tony was a regional director for Swedish Match and an active member of First Redeemer Church, where he taught ninth grade boys. A loving husband, son and father, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Tony played basketball at David Lipscomb and the University of North Alabama. He was employed for over 20 years with UST Inc., living in the states of North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
Born in Florence, Alabama, he was the son of James and Linda Clanton, of Florence, Alabama.
In addition to his parents, Tony is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Michele Clanton, and children, Mackenzie (age 15) and Micaden (age 4), of Cumming, Georgia; brothers, Michael Clanton, of Florence, Alabama, and Todd (Leann) Clanton, of Brandenburg, Kentucky; mother and father-in-law, Doug and Doris Hamner, of Killen, Alabama; brother-in-law, Darrell (Amber) Hamner, of Killen, Alabama; one nephew; five nieces; and a loving extended family.
Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 7, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Redmond Talley officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Funeral services in Cumming were Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, in the chapel of McDonald and Son.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Hamner, Michael Lopp, Ralph Mihlfeld, Johnnie Schilling, Darin Smith and Jason Veal.
