FLORENCE– The November First Fridays is set for Friday, November 6, from 5-8 p.m. in downtown Florence, and, as often happens in November, we’re partnering with the University of North Alabama to Paint it Purple.
“Paint it Purple has become a tradition for the November First Fridays,” said First Fridays Chairman Andy Frith. “It’s a parents’ weekend, so it’s an opportunity for UNA departments, clubs, and organizations to show others what they’re all about, and it gives prospective students a chance to see downtown and what it has to offer.”
A number of UNA groups, both academic and athletic, will be on hand Friday evening. Also, Zeta Tau Alpha, will celebrate the night with their annual Pink Party, which honors those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The Big River Broadcasting stage will be rocking with The Whisky River Kings at 5 p.m. They’ll be followed by Jim and Tina at 6 p.m., who were the first band ever to perform at First Fridays. The final act of the evening will be Jordy Searcy, an acoustic guitarist and vocalist who made it through multiple rounds on the hit show, “The Voice.”
“Between the UNA folks and the music on the stage, it’s going to be a great evening,” Frith said.
In between all of the fun, those who attend should visit the dozens of vendors who will line both sides of Court Street. All items are hand-crafted and include jewelry, carved wood items, glassware, and clothing.
The December First Fridays will be Friday, December 4. The annual Christmas tree lighting for the city will be the same night at Wilson Park.
