Cledith Ray Melson Sr. departed this life Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, in Florence, Alabama, at the age of 67 years. He was born April 20, 1948, in Waynesboro, Tennessee, the son of the late J.P. and Walcie Terrah Montgomery Melson and united in marriage to Brenda Marie Adams on Jan. 31, 1970. Mr. Melson served his country in the Army for 12 years during the Vietnam War and worked as a truck driver for 20 years. He was a member of the Family Worship Center, Florence, Alabama, and enjoyed watching sports, cooking and listening to country music.
He is survived his wife, Brenda Marie Melson, Florence, Alabama; a son, Cledith Ray Melson and wife, Norma, Muscle Shoals, Alabama; daughters, Tammy Michelle Prestige and husband, Gene, Florence, Alabama, and Dedra Renea Hamilton and husband, Jared, Savannah, Tennessee; brothers, Donald Melson and wife, Joan, Joe Melson and wife, Elizabeth, and Dewayne Melson and wife, Shelia, all of Collinwood, Tennessee; grandchildren, Ashley Brannon, Melody Crunk, Cheyenne Petty, Kristian Petty, Ethan Brannon, Megan Melson, Gracie Prestrige, Trinity Prestrige, Dalton Brannon and Presley Melson; and great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Freeman, Colton Alexander and Blake Garcia. In addition to his parents, Mr. Melson was preceded in death by a brother, Freddie Melson, and grandparents, Joe and Ethel Hayes Melson.
Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Home, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Jerry Hester and Wade Flemming officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Lowell Darby, Jared Hamilton, Yuriel Garcia, Ricky Smelser, Billy Bowling and Randy Pace.
