John Christopher “Chris” Horton, 48 of Sheffield, died Friday, October 30, 2015. His visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. There will be a graveside service Monday at 11:00 am at Colbert Memorial Gardens with Rod Stansky officiating.
Chris was a native of Dothan, AL but lived most of his life in Sheffield. He graduated from Sheffield High School where he played football and baseball and was elected Mr. Sheffield High. Chris attended UNA and finished an Electrical Apprentice Program in Corinth, MS. He later transferred to Sheffield IBEW 558 and remains a member. Chris was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Sheffield.
Chris was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Nesbitt Horton; grandfather, John T Richardson and grandparents, Al and Hattie Horton.
He is survived by his parents, John B and Joyce R Horton; sister Ann Marie Horton Holt and husband Carl, grandmother, Margaret R. Durfield; nephews, Chandler, Chase, and Conner Holt; special aunts, Sue Tucker and Bobbie Williams; host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers are Chandler Holt, Chase Holt, Conner Holt, Larry Farmer, Presley Williams, Steve Tucker, Billy Wix and Tommy Milstead.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
