AlanAlan Stuart Mammen, age 70, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held after Jan. 1, 2016.
Mr. Mammen was a native of Brooklyn, New York and had lived in several areas of the United States. He had lived in Florence since 2002.
Being a member of the Jewish faith, he had been active in synagogue life for many years. He and his wife are associated with Temple B’nai Israel in Florence. He was also active in the Shoals British Car Club.
Mr. Mammen worked as a computer programmer analyst and was last employed by Darby Doors as IT director for over 13 years. One of his passions was working the stock market daily. In his spare time, he enjoyed filling wild bird feeders around his home and searching and finding pelicans throughout the country.
Mr. Mammen is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jean; daughter, Lynn Roberts and husband, Bernie, of Athens, Tennessee; grandchildren, Brian Jones, Orlando, Florida, and James Alan Roberts and Jeremy Ray Roberts, of Athens, Tennessee; and brothers, Paul Mammen and son, Merom (Irena) Mammen, of south Florida, and Neal Mammen and wife, Bunnie, and daughters, Kimberly (Alan) Greenspan and Samantha Mammen, of New Jersey.
He was predeceased by his pet rabbit, Sneakers, who brought him joy for many years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Temple B’nai Isreal, 201 E. Hawthorne St., Florence, AL 35630.
