Jeanette Louise Lewis Merijanian – Obituary

Jeanette Louise Lewis Merijanian was born in Mason City, Iowa on June 3, 1932 to Cliff and Ruth Lewis of Osage, Iowa. She graduated from the Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota with a degree in nursing. Jeanette received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Montevallo and a Masters of Public Health degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She worked as a professional nurse in varied positions in Iowa, Kansas, Texas, and finally in the student health services at the University of Montevallo. Jeanette authored two books: “But Who Can I Ask About Growing Up” and “The Mysterious Body Jack is Building” in 1979. She loved classical and organ music. Following retirement, Jeanette moved to Huntsville where she was energetically involved with the Cooperative Extension Services, including her starting a diabetic newsletter while vision impaired. She was also an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and shared her faith through her greeting card ministry.

She is survived by children, Randy Aris Merijanian (Melinda) of Montgomery, Alabama, Dr. Lori Lyn Gearhart (Andrew) of Monroeville, Alabama, Dr. Grigor ‘Greg’ Vartan Merijanian (Judy) of Huntsville, Alabama, John Lewis Merijanian (Cyndi) of Wetumpka, Alabama; grandchildren, Andrew Gearhart (Morgan), Lindsey Gearhart, Alexis Merijanian, Aaron Merijanian, Nicholas Merijanian, MollyAnne Merijanian Hunsinger (Matthew), Jack Merijanian; and great-grandson, Colt Hunsinger.

Visitation will be at 10 am Saturday, October 31st, 2015 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, Alabama with the service to follow at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers send memorial donations to Covenant Presbyterian Church.
