Leon Stonecipher – Obituary

LeonLeon Stonecipher, 75, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015. Visitation will be Monday from 6 until 9 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with David Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Barton Cemetery.
He was a native of Colbert County and was the owner and operator of Leon’s Backhoe Service for over 43 years. He was a member of Chapel Hill Church of Christ.
Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Stonecipher, parents, Arthur Lee and Ruby Lee Stonecipher, sister, Doris Fuller, and brother, Billy Joe Stonecipher.
He is survived by his son, Stacy Stonecipher (Brandy); daughters, Kimberly McCollum (Randy) and Misty Stonecipher; brother, Don Stonecipher (Ruthie); sister, Leola “Sister” Kent (Harley); grandchildren, Meleah, Morgan, Jordan, Hailey, Braydan, and Mason; three great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Pallbearers are Tim Kent, Donald Stonecipher, Kenny Smallwood, Andy Wayne Smith, Tyler Fountain, and Kevin Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Wadkins, Jordan Stonecipher, Paul David Lackey, Chris O’Malley, and Marion Couch.
The family expresses special thanks to the ICU nursing staff of Helen Keller Hospital.
