Dorothy Mae Maxwell Balentine – Obituary

Dorothy Mae Maxwell Balentine, age 91, passed away Oct. 7, 2015. Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 10, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Jeff Noblit officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Balentine was a founding member of Grace Life Church in Muscle Shoals. She worked for many years for Dr. Loren Gary. She was a devoted wife and mother and had a special love for children in the neighborhood as well as the church nursery.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Bill Balentine; father, James Lawrence Maxwell; mother, Lota Agnes Maxwell; stepmother, Velma Maxwell; sisters, Roseman Irons, Lib Woodruf and Bess Simpson; and brothers, Jack Maxwell and Bill Maxwell.
She is survived by her sons, Gene Balentine (Mona), Muscle Shoals, Bobby Balentine (Rhonda), Tuscumbia, Roger Balentine, Muscle Shoals, and Larry Joe Balentine (Renee), Rogersville; grandchildren, Jennifer Fuller, Brad Balentine, Kerry Johnson (Brandon), Alan Balentine (Nicki) and Jake Balentine; great-grandchildren, Leslie Fuller, Carter Arnold, Isabel Johnson and Charlotte Balentine; brother, Don Maxwell (Margie); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brad Balentine, Alan Balentine, Jake Balentine, Carter Arnold, Brandon Johnson, Tony Maxwell and Cole Whitaker. Honorary pallbearers will be Farrel Cochran and Ted Tidwell.
The family would like to express appreciation to her caregivers, Lottie Horton, Charley Lawson, Helen Irons and Courtney Ritter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grace Life Church mission fund.
