Billy Joe Word of Goodspring passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born in Minor Hill, TN on April 23, 1934 and was 81 years old.
He was a loving father and grandfather who also touched many people’s lives. He loved to go hunting, fishing and was a lifetime farmer. He was also a Veteran in the US Army.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home.
Funeral service will take place on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Jackson Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by parents, Richard Roy and Myrtle Earlene White Word, wife, Henrietta Beasley Word, and sister, Anna Jean Norwood.

Daughter, Renee Word Thornton and husband Roger of Minor Hill, TN.
Daughter, Lisa Word Oliver and husband Mickey of Frankewing, TN.
Son, Barry Joe Word and wife Paula of Minor Hill, Tn
Grandchildren, Jennifer Thornton Morgan and husband Trey, Tiffany Thornton, Nic Oliver, Brody Word, and Nevin Norwood.
Great Grandchildren, Landon Thornton, Layton Smith, Cayden White, and Sabrie Perkins.
