LEIGHTON-According to information from the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday evening, October 7 deputies are looking for a suspect who they consider armed and dangerous.
Colbert County Sheriff Frank Williamson said deputies were involved in a chase with a driver of a car on Wednesday in the area of Leighton on Spangler Road. The suspect fired shots at the deputies after crashing his truck. He then ran into a wooded area.
Sheriff Williamson said the suspect made threatening statements saying he would do harm to himself and others. It is believed he has at least two guns on his person.
The Colbert County Sheriff’s deputies are still searching for the suspect.
