ATHENS – Athens Police issued a statement regarding a home break-in that took place on Monday, September 14 resulting in a burglary charge being issued against a suspect. Here is Police Chief Floyd Johnson’s statement:
“This morning shortly before 01:00 the police department received a call of a burglary in progress at 205 Cloverleaf Apartments. When officers arrived the victim told officers while her and her brother were sitting in the living room when the offender Dante Jared Kilgore came in the back door. Kilgore then started yelling at the victim and her brother. The victim is Kilgore’s ex- girlfriend. An argument then started and according to the victim Kilgore threatened to kill them. Kilgore then grabbed the TV and started out the back door. The victim’s brother then attacked Kilgore causing Kilgore to drop the TV. Kilgore then ran from the apartment. Officer Megan Meredith located Kilgore a short time later in the parking lot of Tanglewood Apartments. Kilgore was arrested for Burglary 1st degree. He was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.”
