Barbara J. Sanders of Huntsville passed away on September 2. She was born in Samson, Alabama, then married Glen and began a career as an Army spouse and Red Cross volunteer. She was married to Glen 53 years. She will be remembered as an Army wife, dedicated mother and Nana. After living all over the world with the Army, she enjoyed a second career as a jeweler in Eufaula, Alabama before retiring to Huntsville. She was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Huntsville.
Barbara is survived by her husband Glen, her daughter Glenna, her daughter Laura and husband Bruce, granddaughter Christina and husband Ben, grandson Greg and wife Maggie, grandson Matt and wife Katherine, granddaughter Katelynn, and granddaughter Lindsey. Barbara is also survived by her brothers Huey, Bob, Billy, and Stan Jackson.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday September 5 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at 10:00, with the memorial service following at 11:00, with Dr. Ron Madison officiating. Burial will be at a later time at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, your local church, or the American Cancer Society.
