Gene Hale, 83, passed away after an extended illness surrounded by loving family on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at the The Meadows in Fulton. He was born November 19, 1931 to the late Robert D. Hale and the late Rutha Irene Orear Hale in Itawamba County. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a 32nd Degree MAson of The Fairview Lodge. He was a master mechanic and welder and worked on important projects like the Stennis Test Site, The Alaskan Pipeline, and The Tenn-Tom Waterway. Favorite hobbies included growing banana trees, gardening, hunting, small engine repair, and spending time with family. He especially loved when grandchildren visited and cooking for a big fish fry.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Knight Hale, his daughters, Kathy (Ray) Bring, Tammy (Chuck) Burk, Dana (Jennifer) Hale, his beloved grandchildren, Kelli (Jeff) Tilton, Randy Bring, Griffin (Lindsay) Burk, Kaitlin Burk, and Myers Welch Siblings include, W.C. Hale, Nellie (Murry) Higgins, Dottie (William) Hester, James Hale, Ann (Gary) Austin, Jonnie Lamb, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant twin sisters, sister, Robbie Love, and brother, Bobby Joe Hale.
Pallbearers include Ray Bring, Chuck Burk, Randy Bring, Griffin Burk, Jeff Tilton, and Kevin Summerford.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fairview Masonic Lodge.
