ATHENS-Report from Police Chief Floyd Johnson regarding the drug bust on a backyard marijuana growing operation in Athens on Monday, August 24:

“Early this afternoon the police department received information that several Marijuana plants were growing in the backyard at 7 Sandra Lane. When investigators checked the information they could see the plants growing in the back yard. The owner of the property refused our request to go into the back yard. Investigators secured the area and obtained a search warrant. Once the warrant was obtained the Marijuana was taken into custody. There were 8 plants in total and reached from 3 to over 10 foot tall. We estimate if all the leaves were harvested the weight would be from 15-20 pounds.
Robert M. Musick was arrested and charged with one count of Possession of Marijuana first degree. Musick was also booked in on a failure to appear warrant on a “weed ordnance” violation. Musick was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.”
