ATHENS– BREAKING NEWS: There has been a bomb threat at Athens High School today around 8:45 a.m.
Students have been and are being evacuated. Police are securing the building and searching it.
The school system is coordinating with parents about picking up children. Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson asks parents picking up a child at Athens High to please be patient. Traffic is backed up from the Athens Recreation Center to U.S. 31 at Hobbs St.
“It’s a slow process but a safe one,” Johnson said. “We are trying to direct traffic and need motorists to use caution.
