De Ottis “Buddy” Slocumb, 85, of Hartselle passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Slocumb was a member of the First Christian Church of Hartselle, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, he retired from Alabama Power. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed SEC football. Mr. Slocumb was a devoted and loving family man. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Ida Slocumb; his first wife Alvera Thompson Slocumb and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Stephenson Slocumb; two sons, Mark Slocumb (Kathy) and Brian Slocumb; two step-sons, Tim Stephenson (Angie) and Dr. Jason Stephenson (Kimberly); one daughter, Cindy McCuthen (Ken); and one sister, Geneva Petty also eight grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral will be Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 7:00pm at First Christian Church with Jerry Ridding officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 7:00pm at the church. Honorary pallbearers will be the Coffee Club at Cedar Cove Grocery Store. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Christian Church Kitchen Fund or Hospice of the Valley. Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family.
