Robert Lee Simmons, 69, departed this life on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. Public viewing for Mr. Simmons will be held today, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Grace Memorial Funeral Home, Sheffield, Alabama. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Bethel Lauderdale Missionary Baptist Church, Florence, Alabama, with Pastor Ralph O. Thompson officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the services. Burial will reside at Peter’s Cemetery, Florence, Alabama.
A retiree from Reynold’s Metal Company, Mr. Simmons graced those he encountered with charm and stories to enlighten anyone’s day. Upon confessing Christ on Christmas Day in 2012, Mr. Simmons testified to every listening ear the favor God had bestowed upon his life and the renewed faith he experienced.
Mr. Simmons leaves cherished memories behind with sons, Roger (LaQuita) Russell, Randy (Jana) Russell, Kelvin Russell, Quintin Simmons, and Jacob Simmons; one daughter, April Russell; two brothers, Frank Simmons and Leon (Clara) Simmons; and one sister, Charlotte Davis.
