James Coy Wilburn – Obituary

James Coy Wilburn, 71, passed away Friday, July 31, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness with cancer. He was born April 5, 1944, in Itawamba County to Winnie Beasley Wilburn and Dee Wilburn. He worked for Pennsylvania Tire Company until it closed in 1979 and then worked at Tecumseh Products for 22 years. Following his retirement from Tecumseh, he worked for Component Builders for seven years. He became a member of Shiloh Church in 1970 and actively attended.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 2, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Danny Wilburn officiating. Burial will be in the Center Star Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years and loving caregiver for several years, Lola Cates Wilburn; two sons, Bro. Danny Wilburn (Sandy) of Mantachie and Kenneth Wilburn (Sandra) of Mooreville; three grandchildren, Brittany Simmons (Catlin) of Mooreville, and Nathan Wilburn (Bethany) and Jamie Wilburn, both of Mantachie; three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Haley, and Heather Simmons, all of Mooreville; two sisters, Jan Dillard of Tupelo and Judie Shields (Kelcy) of Mantachie; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Archie and Arlene Cates, Earlene and T.L. Ellis, Jeanette Cates, Toxie Cates, Charles Adams, and Hellen Wilburn Powell; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bobby Dee Wilburn and Butch Wilburn; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Buddy Dillard, Earles Cates, Purlis Cates, Earnest Cates, Hoyte Cates, Movline Adams, Charles Cates, and Cullen Cates, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Alan Cates, Larry Adams, Tommy Adams, Tiny Cates, Nathan Wilburn, Jerry Ellis, Randy Harris, and Daniel Armstrong.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at the funeral home in Mantachie.
