Vera Adelaide Bevis Smith, age 91, of Florence, Alabama, died, Friday, June 17, 2015. The visitation will be Sunday, July 19th from 6-8:00p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Central Heights. The funeral will be Monday, July 20th at 10:00a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Larry Watkins, John Richards, and Wayne Gean will be officiating. Burial will be in Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.
She never met a stranger. She would tell you that she was the oldest of nine children and helped to raise her brothers and sisters. She had a loving, kind heart and was always wanting to help and treated everyone equally. She loved listening to music and she loved to dance the “Charleston.”
Pallbearers will be Mardie Smith, Michael Scott, Clint Moore, Codie Smith, Brett Smith, and Steve Butler.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Dalton Smith, father of her children, and Haven Smith; infant son, Dalton Junior Smith; parents, Doyle and Minnie Bevis; brothers, J.D. Bevis, William Leon (Buck) Bevis, and Ray Bevis; sisters, Laverne (Tootie) Stabler and Joyce Dawson.
Survivors include her son Dalton Wayne Smith and wife Kathy; daughters, Carolyn McFall and husband Jerry, Marsha Scott and husband Paul; sisters Eva Mizerik, Lucille Smith, Rose Winslow and husband Todd; sister-in-law Ruby Haddock, Alamae Frazier, Wanda Bevis, and Rose Mitchell; four grand-children, Mardie Smith and wife Michelle, Amanda Richey, Misty Moore and husband Clint, and Michael Scott, and seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank her special caretakers, Amanda and Wanda, the staff in ICU and ECM Hospital, the 6th floor west staff and Dr. Danny McFall.
