SHEFFIELD– A statement from Mayor Ian Sanford:
“I can’t let another day pass without giving kudos to everyone who made a difference in helping Sheffield get back to some sense of normalcy. Obviously I will begin with our city employees who have been working tirelessly since last Tuesday evening. No complaining. Just doing their job and doing it very well.
Also, the folks at Sheffield Foodland who have unselfishly has supplied cases upon

cases of water and energy drinks to those working in this almost unbearable heat. I must mention SEC Roofing & Construction who set up on River Bluff Drive all day providing free water, coffee, donuts and a place to recharge cell phones. They will be back in the morning.
Finally to our neighboring cities of Muscle Shoals and Russellville for sending your electrical workers to help give our guys a bit of rest. We appreciate this more than can be expressed here. Both Florence and Tuscumbia have there own problems to deal with and hopefully they will be resolved soon as well.
I’m sure there are exceptions but overall folks have shown great patience knowing everyone is doing the best they can. Am I surprised by any of this, no, not in the least. This is who we are and how we respond. This is what makes the “Shoals” so special.
