Onus Franklin Spires – Obituary

Onus Franklin Spires, 86, passed away on July 11, 2015 following a lengthy illness. He was born on June 21, 1929 in Paden, Mississippi, to the late John and Ida Spires. He was a loving husband
and father who supported his family as a long-distance truck driver for more than 50 years. He is
preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty Spires , his parents, brothers, James, Charles, Carlos, and Neal and sisters, Pearline and Marie. He was a member of the Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Spires, one daughter, Brenda Spires, four sons, Roger Spires, Frank Spires (Gail), David Spires (and his best friend Betty) and Danny Spires (Sherry), seven grandchildren, Ray Landers (Brandi), Carrie King (Will), Phillip Spires (Angie), Mandy Blakely (Jeremy), Jason Spires (Kristen), Jacob Spires (Meredith) and Sarah Spires, and ten great-grandchildren, brother, Jimmy Spires and sister, Jewel Farris.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Ray Landers, Phillip Spires, Jason Spires, Jacob Spires, Will King and Jeremy Blakely.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 13, 2015, 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville, with the Reverend Sammy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Franklin Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Keith Morrow, the staff of Russellville Hospital and the hospice staff of Hospice of North Alabama.
