Florence Police Quick Response Net Two Suspects In Overnight Burglary

burglary 1FLORENCE-The Florence Police responded to an alarm call at a business at Yazoo and Cloverdale Road on the night of June 19th.

Here is how the Florence Police describe events leading up to the arrest of two men:

“The quick response of a Florence patrol officer  is being credited for the arrest of two Florence men following an overnight burglary.

Officers responded to alarm call at Yazoo on Cloverdale Road last night at 9:58pm. Officers arrived at the scene in less than 1 min. and patrol Lt. Ryan Fleming observed a suspicious vehicle leaving the area. A traffic stop was conducted and two subjects were detained.burglary 2

The resulting investigation identified the two men as Mitchell Cline Vaughn, 50, of Florence and Keith Lamar Kelley, 45, of Florence. Evidence indicated that the men had just burglarized the business and were still in possession of stolen merchandise.

Both were charged with burglary and theft. Additionally, the men were charged with 4 more counts of burglary. These allegations stem from a series of burglaries at Yazoo and Paradise Gas Station on Chisholm Road.

Investigators believe the two are responsible for a total of 5 burglaries to these business dating back to May 31, 2015. Both subjects are being held in the LCDC in lieu of bond.”
Remember all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
