James Patrick “Pat” Pepper left this earthly world and slipped into Heaven on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, after a short but fierce battle with cancer. He was born June 15, 1949. He was a 1967 graduate of Austin High School, served his country in the U.S. Army and worked as an electrician. He loved his family, friends, fishing, hunting, golfing and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Hames Pepper and her sons, Shannon Taylor and Eric Taylor and his beloved dog, CoCo; mother-in-law, Katherine Hames; sisters-in-law, Sharon Lay (Terry) and Cathy Moses. Pat’s surviving family also includes his loving mother, Sally Pepper and devoted sisters, Teresa and Joni (Jeanne), and brother of the heart, Ernest Holley (Brenda). He has three nieces, one nephew, one great-niece and five great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom he loved with his whole heart. Pat had a host of friends and cherished each one in a special way. He will be missed in so many ways by so many people. Roll Tide Sweet Boy.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 17th at 3 p.m. at Westmeade Baptist Church on Beltline Road with Shelton Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
