americana music triangleFLORENCE – The big black bus sitting out in front of the Marriott gave a hint of what was going on inside… Lots of celebration. Today, Tuesday was the 2nd stop in the tour. The opening of the Americana Music Triangle, a 15-hundred mile swath of highways and byways in the Deep South, which is arguably the region where some of the most important music the world has experienced was created.

It was a big deal. People from Nashville and Memphis… Clarksdale… Alabama State Tourism Director, Lee Sentell was there to make the point that this new-found life in Muscle Shoals Music – a big part of the Triangle – was instigated by the 2013 film, Muscle Shoals”.

Lots of talented people came together to bring the Triangle into existence, but the driving force behind the Triangle’s inception is Leiper’s Fork philanthropist, Aubrey Preston. He is the man who stepped-in and saved the RCA Studio A on Music Row. Mr. Preston has been quite busy. In his address today, Preston told the audience that this project has been a dream of his for a number of years. With the help of Debbie Wilson, Judy Hood, Lee Sentell and a few others, the project grew from a back-of-the-napkin idea to this huge initiative. The purpose is to celebrate the music giants, who through the 20th Century created some of the finest and most memorable music the world has known.
