Jay Fred Young, 85, passed away at his residence. The graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at Murphy Chapel Cemetery. Ronnie Smith is officiating.
Fred was born May 28, 1929, in Florence, Alabama. He was raised and worked on the family farm. Fred moved to Indiana at a young age. He worked for Bendix until he retired.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Maudie (Bevis) Young, wife, Flora, and two brothers, Cecil and Doyle Young.
Survivors are two daughters, Brenda Lawson and Joyce Powell, of South Bend; several grandchildren; sister, Hazel Keeton (Floyd), Florence, Alabama; brother, Harold Young (Tommy Jean) Cabot, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
