Bob Erskin Blanks, 85 years of age, of Rogersville, Alabama, left his earthly home Saturday, April 11, 2015. Bob was a retired Sears Roebuck employee. After retirement he enjoyed building piers and boat docks and he was the manager for Northlake Storage.
Bob was a faithful member of Rogersville United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Rogersville Masonic Lodge 359, a Rogersville Civitan, a charter member of the Alabama Treasure Forest Landowner’s Association and the Rogersville Area Chamber of Commerce. He led his Neighborhood Watch Program for many years. He was inducted into the Rogersville Hall of Honor for his community service. He served his country during the Korean Conflict. Bob enjoyed gardening, road trips, and working as a wood craftsman. He enjoyed living on the river and fishing. Bob played basketball when he was in school and supported LCHS sports and UNA football. He encouraged preservation of natural resources and was given the Outstanding Treasure Forest award for thoughtful land stewardship, which he practiced, leaving a better world for those who follow.
Visitation services will be Monday, April 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 14, at 1:00 p.m. at Rogersville United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Oliver Bedingfield Cemetery across from the church..
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Tincy Lann Blanks. He is survived by his daughter Susan and son-in-law Frankie Patterson as well as their sons. Grandson John (Michelle), great-grandson Hunter and great-granddaughter Bailey, grandson Patrick and great granddaughter Brooke, all who live near their home in Rogersville.
Bob was the youngest child in the large family of John and Pearl Blanks. He is survived by a great number of loving Blanks and Lann family members and many cherished close friends and neighbors.
