Funeral services for Betty Lou Cheatham Burden, 75, of Cullman, will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Weisner officiating. Interment will be in Panama Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Burden, who passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Summerford Nursing Home, was born May 4, 1939, in Cullman County to the late Jessie Ervin “Dink” and Flossie Alene Buckelew Cheatham. She was the first Head Start teacher at Jones Chapel in 1976 and taught kindergarten at West Point from 1977 until 1992. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carlton C. Burden; her brother, Charles Delaine Cheatham; and a grandson-in-law, Brian Randolph.
Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Lynne Burden (Richard) Hyde; one son, Gregory Vaughn (Rita) Burden; one brother, Donald (Darlene) Cheatham; two granddaughters, Michelle Randolph and Donna Hutcheson; and five great-granchildren.
