CHALYBEATE-An early morning domestic call resulted in a man being fatally shot by a Lawrence County Deputy. Police were called to 1000 block of County Road 249 at approximately 7:30 am on Thursday, March 19.
Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said The officers were called to the residence on a domestic call when Shane Watkins, age 39 was shot. It was believed Watkins was wielding a knife.
The State Bureau of Investigation is now been called in to oversee the investigation.
The body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensics in Huntsville for an autopsy.
