DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit was on patrol Thursday, February 12th when after a routine traffic stop they arrested one man on drug charges. Here is how the Decatur Police describe events:
“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
On February 12, 2015, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit were patrolling in the area of West Moulton St. Officer Michael Kitchens conducted a traffic stop at West Moulton St and Memorial Dr Sw for a moving violation (No Turn Signals).
Officer Kitchens made contact with the occupants of the vehicle. The passenger was identified as Matthew Wilkins. During the course of the investigation, Wilkins was found to be in the possession of a quantity of crack cocaine, marijuana, drug use paraphernalia, and an open container of alcohol.
Wilkins was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Open Container. Wilkins was transported to the Decatur City Jail where he was processed in.
Wilkins will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $4,000.00 bond.”
