Margaret Ann (Ayers) Sands, age 85, passed from this life Saturday after a brief illness. She was a resident of Huntsville for the past 40 years and a retiree of Redstone Arsenal. Beloved by many neighbors, friends and family, she will be greatly missed. Her church family at Weatherly Heights Church of Christ called her a rare treasure, a compliment she truly deserved. Everyone who knew her will miss her smile, her vivacious spirit and the kind heart she had for helping others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Sands, parents, Otha W. Ayers and Louise P. Ayers, two brothers, Wayne Ayers and Will Ayers; and niece, Ginger Ayers.
Ms. Sands is survived by her nephew, Andy Ayers, niece, Ava Ayers both of Lawrenceburg, TN, two great-nieces Amy Crews and Sharra Wolfe; great-nephew, Brian Hill; and 10 great-great nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, where the family will receive friends Wednesday 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will follow in Spry’s Chapel with Mike McLemore officiating. Mrs. Sands will Lie-in-State at Salem Church of Christ, 505 West Point Rd, in her beloved, Lawrenceburg, TN Thursday from 11:00 until 12 noon. A committal service will follow at 12:30 p.m at Bumpass Cemetery. Interment will follow the committal service.
