Mr. Robert Gene Irvin, age 80, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015, at NHC Healthcare in Moulton. Funeral services will be today, February 4, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Union Grove with Pastor Brian McLaughlin officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Irvin was in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until 1956. He was retired from Monsanto in 1996 after 39 and a half years of service. Mr. Irvin was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Franklin Irvin and Cordie Wilson Irvin Maples; three brothers, Aubrey Irvin, William Grady Irvin and Melvin H. Irvin; and two sisters, Pauline Young and Betty Mae Kelley.
Survivors include one son, Douglas Eugene (Melissa) Irvin; one daughter, Rhonda Lynne Irvin (Rodney) Johnson; one brother, Boyd Edward (Annette) Irvin; grandchildren, Allison Alaina Johnson, Amanda Leigh Johnson, Nathan Andrew Johnson, Robert Douglas Irvin, Kyle Joseph Irvin, Kaitlin Elizabeth Irvin; and great-grandchildren, Andrew Douglas Irvin and Jackson Ray Irvin.
