Funeral services for Florence Valentine Davies Moore, 90, a longtime resident of Fayetteville, will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Graham officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Moore passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Bailey Manor. She was born February 14, 1924 in Huntsville, Alabama and was the eldest daughter of the late Arthur H. Davies and Florence Myrtle Wilson Davies of Huntsville. She was married to the late John Carl Moore, Jr. of Lincoln County for 67 years until his death in 2011.
Mrs. Moore was a homemaker and active in many organizations in Fayetteville. She was a member of the Embroidery Guild of America, the Lincoln County Embroidery Guild, the Lincoln County Historical Society, a charter member of the Fayetteville Garden Club, and a member of the Home Demonstration Club. Mrs. Moore and her husband were members of a couple’s bridge club for over 50 years. She was a member of Washington Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; her son, John Carl Moore III; brothers Arthur and Winston; and a sister Carolyn.
Survivors include a grandson, Brian Moore and wife, Kelly, of Tampa, FL; a granddaughter, Jennifer Moore Roberts and husband, David, of Mobile, AL; a great-grandson, David Roberts IV; and a great-granddaughter, Juliana Roberts; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Moore; sister-in-law, Dorthea Davies; nieces, Janice Gilbreath and husband, Johny, and Barbara Schill and husband, Morris; nephews, Ted Blocker and wife, Robin, and Wade Davies and wife, Meg; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Higgins Funeral Home.
