MUSCLE SHOALS – Two young adults, one from Killen, one from Florence, were shot to death this morning at 1460 Highway 72 in Muscle Shoals. Police Chief Robert Evans emphasized at a hastily called media conference today, that his Department is just at the earliest stages of the investigation.
“We got the call from Colbert County EMS at 2:20 this morning regarding a double homicide at Jody’s Restaurant, Chief Evans said. “When our officers arrived at the scene they found Kayla Ann Glover, 23, of Killen, and Gary Wayne Baskins, 25, of Florence, dead at the scene.”
The two were reportedly victims of gunshot wounds.
Baskins was found in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. Glover’s body was located outside the vehicle in the parking lot.
Chief Evans said, “Our knowledge of this case is very limited at this time. As of now, we have no motive. Nobody’s come forward. And nobody in the restaurant, which was open at the time of the murders, claims to have seen or heard anything. We have yet to identify anybody as a person of interest.”
The shootings took place in a parking space on the northwest corner of Jody’s.
