Elizabeth “Libby” Bernice Yancey – Obituary

Elizabeth “Libby” Bernice Yancey, 87, of Huntsville, passed away Monday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar “Ed” C. Yancey. Mrs. Yancey attended Snead State and was a school teacher before moving to Huntsville. She retired from Chrysler in Huntsville, was a member of the Huntsville Order of the Eastern Star and the United Daughters of the American Confederacy. Mrs. Yancey loved poetry and loved to write it as well. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Huntsville. Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Yancey Garrren (Ray); two grandsons, Jeffrey David Martin (Violetta) and William Yancey Martin; great-grandson, Julien Maksimilian; brother, Harold Snyder; and sister, Shirley Snyder Ariail; two nieces and two nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. Chapel service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Mike Ariail officiating. Graveside service will follow at 2:00pm at Bristow Cemetery on Duck Springs Rd. in Etowah County in Duck Springs, Alabama. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
