ATHENS – The Athens State University Alumni Association is hosting a seminar titled The ABCs of Domestic Violence on March 10, 2015. The seminar will feature special guest speakers Ginger Stone (Safeplace/Athens State Alumna) and Jennie Helderman (Author), as well as a panel of experts. Using the true story of Ginger Stone’s escape from an abusive marriage, the speakers will show the
insidious nature of intimate partner abuse, dispel the myths and expose the belief systems at its core. Feedback from Stone and Helderman’s previous presentations are described as “powerful,” “inspiring,” “gut-wrenching,” and “impactful”. CEU, CE, and CLE certificates will be available.
The seminar will include registration from 7:30-8:00 am, The ABCs of Domestic Violence (Abuse, Beliefs, Control)
from 8:00-9:45 am, 1st Breakout Session from 10:00-10:50 am, 2nd Breakout Session from 11:00-11:50 am, Lunch at 12:00 noon, a panel discussion at 12:30 pm, a book signing of As the Sycamore Grows at 1:30 pm and a performance of Trifles at 2:00 pm.
Early registration is $25 by February 27th and late registration is $30. These fees include all events or attendees can attend just the lunch and performance for $10.
