Graveside service and interment for Martha Bruce Yarbrough Davis, 78, of Chelsea will be today, January 13, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with Brother Allen Murphy officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. No visitation is scheduled.
Mrs. Davis went to be with her Saviour on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She was born August 31, 1936, in Morgan County to Gorham Bruce Yarbrough and Martha Louise Romine Yarbrough. Martha attended Auburn University where she help found the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She worked at Redstone Arsenal where she met and then married her husband, Robert Ford Davis. Martha was a woman of incredible vibrance and passion for life.
She loved her children and grandchildren deeply and will forever be cherished as the beloved matriarch of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Robert F. Davis; one son, Robert F. Davis Jr. of Athens; two daughters, Stacy D. Browning of Chelsea and
Courtney L. Poling (Chris) of Northport; one brother, Ralph Yarbrough of Vestavia; and three grandchildren, Patrick I. Browning, Isabelle G. Browning and Jessica L. Poling.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor and memory to St. Vincent’s Foundation/Pallative Care.
